American Idol 11 - Top 5 Power List

American Idol's Top 5 take on British Pop and the '60s tonight. Elise Testone was eliminated last week, so I'm still in mourning. If my prediction is right, Phillip Phillips will win this season. Honestly, no one can beat him. Before we get to their performances tonight, I've broken down the remaining contestants. There is very little movement in my rankings this week -- with only Joshua and Jessica switching places.

I've also included a little advice for each. Song spoilers are here.

1. Phillip Phillips - I admire him for picking an obscure Dave Matthews song, even though it wasn't my fave from him. Michael Slezak pointed out that middling guys can get away with doing obscure songs and/or not going outside of their comfort zone. Girls, on the other hand, typically can not. All PP needs to do until the finale is to continue being cute and strumming his guitar. I found it odd (and frustrating) that J.Lo advised him to pick songs everyone knows b/c she wants him to win. Obviously, she just wants in his pants. Sigh.

2. Skylar Laine - If there is any justice in this world, she will be the last girl standing. Not only does she get the Country vote, but she is also a great performer. Sometimes her vocals are a bit nasally, but she connects to the material and delivers. However, she needs to stay away from songs that don't showcase her great range (like "Tattoos on This Town"). She landed in the bottom three last week -- which makes me worried for her. Tonight, she needs to pick a song out of her comfort zone and work it out. Come on, girl!!! Note: As you can see, I'm now rooting for Skylar since Elise is gone. :)

3. Joshua Ledet - The black diva never dies. His fan base has been multiplying tremendously over the course of this competition. He's rarely been in the bottom, and I think he could potentially make the finale. He needs to continue to show his vocal restraint...and the judges need to stop overpraising him and giving him candy standing O's.

4. Jessica Sanchez - I'm still not sure if she can actually win this show as much as I would like her too. Being eliminated a few weeks ago doesn't bode well for a finale spot. She hasn't been in the bottom since, but that could all change. We're getting down to the wire, and I don't think she can crack the top three without an Idol moment.

5. Hollie Cavanagh - She definitely gets the most improved sticker. The past few weeks have been the best she's ever been. However, she's been in the bottom way too many times. She's slowly begun to show that she can connect to the songs she's singing. However, I think it's way too late.

So, what does your power list look like? Do you agree or disagree with my rankings?
