AMC Renews 'Comic Book Men', Announces New Programming
AMC has renewed Comic Book Men for a fourth season, since apparently a reality show centered on dudes talking about comic books does business for the channel (and more power to them!). But that's hardly even a blip on the radar of the network's latest huge announcement.
The network has unveiled its programming and development slate for the 2014-2015 broadcast season, and there are some genuinely interesting shows on the docket. Primarily, AMC is finally getting into scripted comedy with several pilots: for example, We Hate Paul Revere is a sitcom set in Colonial Boston, of all places, and it centers on a pair of brothers who feel they aren't getting the recognition they deserve for the city's fame. There's also Sober Buddies, a comedy about a sobriety coach and the young man he's trying to keep on the wagon, and No Money Down, which sounds a lot like TBS's Ground Floor, but set in a Texas auto dealership, because I guess cars are the summit of all humor.
But that's not all! Check out the full list of projects in development from AMC, and start guessing which ones you'll most want keeping you warm during those long Walking Dead / Mad Men hiatuses. Full list below via TV.com:

Area 51 from The X-Files' Chris Carter and The Walking Dead's Gale Anne Hurd, a drama about the infamous military site where the government is burying secrets about contact with aliens.Police State, a drama with black humor about a security guard who is recruited by an organization like the NSA.
Kingmakers, a drama about a campaign manager who gets back into politics when his friend is assassinated while campaigning for governor.
Bombingham, a period drama about the Civil Rights movement in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Sparrow, a sci-fi drama about a Jesuit mission that leads to the first contact with aliens.
Jerry's World, a drama about a woman who moves in with her boyfriend, his daughter, and his Alzheimer's-stricken father, who teaches her a new way to look at life.
Paradise Lost, a drama about a group of friends who start their own community. Of course bad things happen!
Untitled John Leguizamo Project a comedy from John Leguizamo about a group of dudes in New York City dealing with life. I'm pretty sure this is the 153rd time he's tried to get this developed.
No Money Down, a comedy about the employees at an Austin auto dealer.
Random Acts, a comedy about two lady friends who deal with regular life problems and their jobs. Oh, they're hitwomen!
Sober Buddies, a comedy about a sober coach and the kid he's trying to keep sober.
I don't imagine every series in this lineup (or even half, necessarily) will get picked up, but it's interesting to see what AMC has in the pipeline.
