On The Amazing Race...

From the Australian Outback, the teams go on an overnight train ride to Sydney then fly to Japan.

The teams take different strategies which is fascinating. Some teams take taxis directly to the airport. Some teams take the train. And some teams book their flights first before leaving for the airport either via travel agent or Internet.

The teams choose from two different flights:

Cathay Pacific (with a connecting in Hong Kong) which arrives at 6:00 AM (5 teams)

Qantas arrives at 6:15 AM

And then a twist! The Cathay Pacific flight got delayed in Hong Kong due to engine trouble. It arrived one hour and half later.

Amazingly though, the teams on the second flight were able to catch up with the other teams.

Jaime and Cara who were on the second flight got an added delay when they had a minor car accident.

In Tokyo:

Go To the Yabusame Dojo.

Road Block: Yabusame Ritual - shoot a bow and arrow on top of a wooden horse.

Go to a railway station.

Detour:

Prayer of Purity - take part in a Shinto cleansing ritual

Frog of Luck - go into a mudpit and look for a frog

Some twists: The Globetrotters took the bags of Rob and Christina by mistake which delayed Rob and Christina by a bit looking for it.

Drive to Pitstop: Commodore Perry's Landing

Results:

Zev and Justin were team #1! Wow. They were actually in last place at some point. They win a trip for two to Costa Rica.

Mel and Mike arrived in last place, after Mel couldn't continue with the mud challenge because it was too cold. Mike asked his father to stop worried for his health.

This leg in Japan seemed hard. The Detour challenges in the cold felt brutal.
