'The Amazing Race' Season 25 Cast + Twist Announced (VIDEO)
The Amazing Race has been all over the news this week: not only has the show won a tenth Emmy for Outstanding Reality Competition Program, the series has now announced the cast for the upcoming 25th season, along with a brand new twist that will hopefully keep the game fresh.
First and foremost, a new twist has been revealed that will potentially change the game. In short, the team that finishes first in the premiere episode will have an advantage known as "The Save". This advantage will allow that particular team to save themselves from elimination if they should come in last during a leg of the race later on in the season. It's a unique change to the game that could lead to some surprising changes in fortune for one of the 11 teams competing.
But what familiar faces and newcomers will make up those 11 teams?
Among those competing this season are pro surfer Bethany Hamilton, who made headlines after losing an arm in a 2003 shark attack. She will compete alongside surfer husband Adam Dirks.
Meanwhile, the CBS cross-brand synergy continues, as yesterday's announcement that the Amazing Race's Anderson twins would be competing on Survivor: San Juan del Sur is now counterbalanced by the news that two Survivor: South Pacific contestants, Whitney Duncan and Keith Tollefson, will be competing on The Amazing Race this season. It appears to be part of a larger initiative on CBS's part to further integrate its reality competition shows, as Big Brother winner Hayden Moss competed in Survivor: Blood vs. Water last year.
Also among the cast are two professional wrestlers: TNA pro wrestling stars Brooke Adams and Robbie Strauss, better known to their fans as Miss Tessmacher and Robbie E. But these are just a few of the names that are among the 11 teams competing in Season 25, which premieres Friday, Sept. 26 at 8:00 PM on CBS.
