The Amazing Race 24 Recap of Leg 7: 'The Gladiators Are Here'

Seven teams continue racing on Leg 7 on The Amazing Race All-Stars!

The teams start off in Sri Lanka.

Last episode was a non-elimination leg so all the teams keep on racing with a Speed Bump in play.

Route Info: Fly to Rome, Italy and go to Hadrian's Bridge

All the teams make it to the early 1:20 a.m. direct flight from Sri Lanka to Rome.

Four teams make it to the first shuttle at the airport and had a head start of 10 minutes.

Detour:

"Gladiator"

Teams must fight a seasoned gladiator

or

"Charioteer"

Race a toy chariot by remote control

Since the country singers Caroline & Jennifer finished last in the non-elimination leg in the last episode they had to go through a Speed Bump first before doing the Detour.

Speed Bump:

"Just my Type"

Deliver a typewriter to a building that looks like a typewriter

The Detour challenges weren't as easy as they looked. The racing got more difficult as more teams joined the race. The gladiator challenge involved memorizing the moves.

Leo & Jamal switched from the Chariot to Gladiator when the race proved too difficult.

Jessica & John who did the Gladiator challenge finished first.

Brendon & Rachel who did the Charioteer challenge finished second.

Leo & Jamal the only team that switched finished their challenge last.

Route Info: Piazza Di Spagna

Jessica & John became victims of their taxi driver who did not know directions and ended up in the wrong place. They ended up leaving their taxi since the driver had no idea where they needed to go.

Seriously, taxi drivers are the make or break factor on this show for years now. It should be titled: "Who rode the correct taxi? Race"

Road Block

"Step Up and Be Counted"

Count the steps of the Spanish Steps.

The number of steps correspond to the year the steps were built in roman numerals. These steps were made famous by one of my favorite films Roman Holiday starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck.

Pit Stop: Piazza Del Popolo

First Place: Brendon & Rachel

They won a trip for two to Australia's Great Barrier Reef.

Second Place: Caroline & Jennifer (from last to second)

Third Place: Dave & Conner (they let the singers ahead for helping them with the roman numerals in the Road Block)

Fourth Place: Jet & Cord (they still have an Express Pass which could be in play next week)

It was a three-way tie in the end, but Leo & Jamal solved the steps challenge first. They gave the answers to The Globetrotters and Jessica & John who promised they won't U-Turn them.

A foot race to the end between the Globetrotters and Jessica & John.

Fifth Place: Leo & Jamal

Sixth Place: Flight Time & Big Easy

Last Place: Jessica & John

Jessica & John were eliminated from the race. So close. They should blame everything on the taxi.
