'Almost Human' Canceled by FOX
It's curtains for one of the 2013-2014 broadcast season's most hyped freshman dramas, proving that they can't all be as surprisingly successful as Sleepy Hollow.
FOX has cancelled Almost Human after just one season. The decision not to move forward with a second season comes after an up-and-down ratings swing since its premiere in November 2013. The futuristic sci-fi drama starring Karl Urban and Michael Ealy (as a cop and his android partner, respectively) began modestly enough, but ratings just never really improved as the season went on. By the time the March finale aired, Almost Human was down to a disappointing 1.5 rating in the key 18-49 demographic. The show had seemed like a safe bet for an early renewal, having come from Fringe masterminds JJ Abrams and J.H. Wyman. But with the combination of slipping ratings and several new, more promising dramas on the slate for the 2014-2015 broadcast season (including the upcoming DC Comics origin drama, Gotham), Almost Human became a casualty of the Russian Roulette known as the TV industry.
