Allison Holker - Interview - So You Think You Can Dance All-Star

I interviewed Allison Holker, one of the all-stars on So You Think You Can Dance, yesterday. Yay!
I tried my best, but unfortunately, I was distracted by my crying puppy! You can hear her whining in the background - it was very stressful. But we carried on - and Allison gave some great info about the show. I also had a lot of fanboy moments telling her how amazing she is, so forgive me for that.
She said that her number with Jose which the judges criticized was actually a choreographed piece from Sonya Tayeh and "not made for Jose". This is interesting since Mia Michaels said Sonya gave them a "pedestrian" piece to suit his lack of training. (Ughh, TV editing).
We discussed a bit about the injuries on the show and Allison said that the dancers are just giving it their all and not saying no to routines that their bodies might not be able to take. For her own injury -- a fractured rib -- she said the week off was good for her since it started the healing process.
I asked about how the all-stars this season are compensated since if it was "per dance" then the male dancers are on the losing end of the deal. She said that they were guaranteed a certain number of weeks -- even if they didn't dance for all those weeks.
She said her favorite routine this season was the Travis Wall-choreographed number with Robert Roldan. She's been friends with Travis for a long time and this was the first time they worked together professionally.
Her favorite contestants are: Jose Ruiz and Kent Boyd!
Allison will be on the SYTYCD Tour this season and afterwards, she wants to be an all-star again next season if they show keeps that format.
Thanks to Allison for taking time to talk me!
