Alice Bottomley sings 'Miss Independent' on The X Factor Australia 2014 (VIDEO)

Alice Bottomley sang 'Miss Independent' on The X Factor Australia 2014 Boot Camp.

I like Alice as a person far more than as a singer, but liking a person more than you enjoy their ability speaks volumes, as evidenced by Gabrielle Nicole's defeat in her duel on Rising Star. All the talent in the world doesn't make a whole lot of difference on a competition like this if people don't like you, and while that's not always fair, it does mean that we tend to get more likable people going through on these types of shows. I do think Alice has loads of personality though. Now, does that translate to a potential win? Well, no. Not unless she's capable of growing the way last year's winner, Dami Im, did. At the very least, such a growth isn't beyond the realm of possibility. It's just...not likely. Seriously, the judges are just handing out standing ovations now.
