'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' to introduce Deathlok and Asgardian villain Lorelei

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be adding two major characters from Marvel lore: the volatile cyborg Deathlok, and the Asgardian warrior Lorelei.

Lorelei, played by Elene Satine, is a villain from Thor’s home of Asgard, and footage was recently shown at the TCA Winter Press Tour of the warrior facing off with another Thor character, Lady Sif (Jaime Alexander). She's expected to appear later in the season, yet there's an even bigger story behind the other major character being added to the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. mythology.

Deathlok, a man reanimated with cyborg technology, is a well-known character in the Marvel lore -- but he'll also be well-known to fans of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., as the role of Deathlok will be filled by a preexisting character. Who will become Deathlok?

J. August Richards, who plays the role of single father and Extremis-infused warrior Mike Peterson, will be returning to the show as Deathlok. The character of Peterson was last seen on the show several weeks back, after having been captured by terrorist organization Centipede. They fit him with a cybernetic implant, among other implementations, and this is likely what Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb was referencing at TCAs when he noted, regarding the first appearance of Deathlok, “We’ve been leaving breadcrumbs along the way.”

“This is a major Marvel character appearing on TV, on film for the first time,” Loeb added.

Deathlok will make his first appearance starting next month, while Lorelei will appear later this season.
