A&E Cancels 'Longmire' After Three Seasons
A&E has had some fair success with original dramas -- okay, mostly just Bates Motel. Although they had a steady performer for at least two seasons in the form of Longmire, a crime drama centered on a widowed sheriff in Absaroka County, Wyoming. However, the ratings didn't hold, so A&E has axed the series after three seasons.
The third season of Longmire averaged about 3.7 million viewers and a 0.6 in the key 18-49 demographic. However, this was a significant decline from its season 2 finale, and was apparently not a serviceable enough rating to justify the continued cost.
“We would like to thank the phenomenal cast, crew and producers of Longmire, along with our partners at Warner Horizon, for their tireless work on three seasons of quality dramatic storytelling,” the network said in a statement. “We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together.”
However, it may not be over for Longmire just yet. Although A&E has canceled the show, producer Warner Horizon is reportedly looking for another network to pick it up.
Did you watch Longmire? If so, would you follow it to a new network? Or was it time for the show to end? Sound off in the comments!
