Adventure Time - Season 5 Episode 28 - Recap - Be More

This week's installment of Adventure Time on Cartoon Network is totally superb. Like last week's episode, this one is based on a shelved idea from very early in the show's run, back when the adventures of Finn the Human and Jake the Dog were fanciful romps through the fantasy wasteland of Ooo, rather than the relationship-oriented . It seems appropriate that tonight's episode should be centered around B-MO, what with the Internet ablaze this week about B-MO and gender identity. Today, we finally learned where B-MO comes from.

At the top of the episode, B-MO is hiding and giggling, while his face deletes some important files. B-MO falls over, glitched. Waking up through TV static, B-MO tells Finn and Jake that they must travel to the MO factory, where B-MO was born. It is a ruined, half-buried green complex in the middle of the desert.

The trio is greeted by D-MO, voiced by guest star Aziz Ansari, and given a tour of the factory. They deviate from the tour, though, and D-MO sicks the security robot S-MOs on them. Finn can't find the right plug to fit B-MO into, so they have to escape elsewhere. While the heroes hide, we get to see the S-MOs being very B-MO, with pouring coffee against their computer screen mouths and pressing food onto their digital faces. From their hidey hole, Jake and Finn find a map of the facility (with B-MO's help) and make a run for it.

The trio eventually makes it to the deep heart of the facility, where they meet the decrepit Mo, thousand-year-old creator of B-MO and the other MO-bots. Mo fixes B-MO, then introduces B-MO to a cavern below them, filled with B-MOs family.

This episode is delightful. It's cute and fun. Less action-oriented than last week's episode, but with a lot of goofiness and a ton of heart. Plus, lots of B-MO, so that's always nice. If the extra-long season five continues this strong, we're in for 20+ more weeks of smiles. Check out our recap next week, and for the next few months after that!
