Adventure Time - Season 5 Episode 44 - Recap - Apple Wedding

Cartoon Network's smash-hit animated action/comedy Adventure Time is back after a longish break, bringing us an ominous wedding. There's no songs about Rains or Castameres though, don't worry. After a long engagement, Tree Trunks and her excessive PDA boyfriend Mr. Pig are finally tying the knot!

Princess Bubblegum is hosting the wedding party for Tree Trunks and Mr. Pig, and she's charged Finn with preventing Lumpy Space Princess from crashing it. LSP shows up in a wedding dress, crows heralding her terrible arrival. Meanwhile, Tree Trunks's ex-husband flirts with B-MO real hardcore and Cinnamon Bun is about to bust a shaken bottle of apple cider. It all comes to a head when... well, let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Princess Bubblegum believes she's to perform the ceremony, but Tree Trunks insists that the King of Ooo (?!) perform it. PB insists that this King is a fraud, and vows to expose him. She dramatically crashes the King's blimp, just as LSP makes it to the wedding and B-MO runs off and Cinnamon Bun opens the cider (...the cider didn't pop). The Princess broke into the King's blimp, where she foung an outdated wedding officiator license. That's not the least of it, since the King also snuck some indentured servitude into the vows. Nobody noticed his indecency, though, and the whole wedding guest list rebels when PB tried to arrest the apparently false King of Ooo. She throws them all in jail, where Tree Trunks just performs the ceremony herself. The King escapes and the prisoners are released!

What an odd episode. The commercials and the episode itself made extensive reference to other famous weddings in media. That shot down the aisle down there looks really Twilight, yeah? Anyway, I really liked this episode a whole lot and I'm glad Adventure Time is back!!
