Adventure Time - Season 5 Episode 40 - Recap - Play Date
Cartoon Network's Adventure Time is back with another episode, which I'm sure you already knew. You probably already watch Adventure Time every week, to keep up with the shenanigans of Jake the Dog and Finn the Human as they dive through dungeons and rescue princesses in the post-apocalyptic fantasy land of Ooo. You probably know what happens in this episode, because you've got superb taste and already watch Adventure Time! Here's a refresher, just in case.
Finn and Jake return from an adventure with some loot, only to have their good times interrupted by their recently-acquired roommate Ice King. Jake wants to kick him out, but Finn feels real guilty about junking up his kingdom, so another solution must be found. Ice King doesn't want to stay in a hotel (loney, he says). Instead, Finn and Jake invite over Abracadaniel, their barely-competent wizard pal, to be buds with Ice King. After a wary intro, the two quickly become friends. Stuff gets weird when Ice King and Abracadaniel hold a little interpretive dance show in Finn and Jake's treehouse. When the heroes are set for bed, Ice King and Abracadaniel lie their way into having a sleepover.
During the night, Ice King and Abracadaniel are hanging out in the treasure room when they accidentally summon a demon out of one of Finn's swords. The demon demands Finn return the demon blood used to forge the sword. With the wizards as hostage, Finn has no choice. He destroys the sword, returns the blood, and frees the wizards. Then Finn demands that the demon leave, but the demon steals Jake before he goes! The episode ends with Finn holding his broken sword, in shock over his stolen pal! Oh no! Cliffhanger!!
This was a good episode! It's always nice when there's a callback to a prior adventure, like with the demon's blood sword here. The cliffhanger is really heart-breaking, too. Finn and Jake are best pals, brothers, and inseparable. Seeing Jake get stolen is a real bummer! I can hardly wait until next week's continuation!
