Adele at the United Palace Theater, NYC

I watched Adele at the United Palace Theater in Washington Heights, NYC last night. She was everything I hoped she would be. I felt like I had a life-altering experience!
I bought my ticket online last February. I found a link announcing that an extra show was added after her show in the Beacon Theater last Thursday was sold out. I didn't know what my seating assignment was until last night when I picked up the ticket at the will call. It was third row orchestra right! How lucky! It turned out the fans around me also had the same experience: we didn't know where we would be seated until we got there. And the theater was HUGE. I couldn't believe I was seated so close. I guess it was a magic link after all!

Going to the concert alone may have some drawbacks, but I discovered that it can actually get a bit more intimate for some absurd reason. Because Adele lends herself to more intimate performances, I felt like it was only her and me in the room: she singing to me, about me, for me. I had to hold back tears at some of the songs as she really touched me -- even if I had no idea what her breakup with her ex was all about, etc.
Her best performance of the night she saved for her second to last song: 'Someone Like You'. It pretty much embodied what her current album was all about and her emotions were so raw and real. She was singing from her soul - and it was a privilege that she was willing to share that vulnerability with her audience. The New York audience really loved her.
The opening act Plan B was very loud. My ear drums hurt after their set. But I really liked one of the lead guitarists. You know me: cute trumps all!
Also, a couple tried to claim seats that weren't theirs in front me which was really annoying. When the real owners arrived (2 songs into Adele's set unfortunately) there was a bit of commotion, which disrupted the energy on the right of me. I really didn't need to feel the negative vibes, but it is what it is. Some people are just obnoxious.
Oh... and I was surrounded by a total of four gay/lesbian "couples" last night which was pretty neat. Kinda surreal to be in some kind of gay pride moment at an Adele concert.
