Adam Lambert auditioned for American Idol to land a Broadway role

Sometimes, you just have to stick to your initial gut reaction and not get swept up in the hype machine, which was proven to me again in this interview of Adam Lambert by Kidd Kraddick. I thought (as well as many others, you know who you are) that Adam was destined for Broadway the moment he stepped on the Idol stage two years ago.

Adam reveals that he auditioned for American Idol to get a "bit of fame" so he could land a role on Broadway. This is totally different from what fans have been saying that he joined Idol to be a "rock star", etc.

It could be a bit of back-tracking from Adam, now that he has tested the waters of what the pop music industry is like -- giving himself more career options -- but saying it on record in an interview is to me telling everyone that he is open to do Broadway after all.

This I know: When Adam comes to Broadway he will immediately be treated like royalty here and may even win a Tony or at least get nominated. "Tony Award winner Adam Lambert"? I actually like the sound of that.
