Sorry for the delay, I've been tired, disoriented, hungry, sleepy, etc. these past few days.
I went to Mohegan Sun with richie and Jadore last Tuesday for Ace Young's CD launch. I am happy that Ace Young's fans are alive and well. They came out in full force to support Ace, who still is the prettiest "man" to come out of American Idol to date. I was surprised to learn however that there are conflicts among the fans. I guess every fanbase is one big happy (or sad) dysfunctional family! Apparently, this happens in every fanbase -- except that for David Archuleta it's been mostly Rickey against the fans, and with Syesha Mercado it's been Rickey against himself -- LOL -- inner conflict within the Fanesha 300, that's our civil war). Finally, I was shocked to learn that Ace Young reads Rickey.org! Woohoo! He told me: "You're my harshest critic. Everyone listens to you." Eeeek. Not everyone listens to me Ace, but thank you.
I think his new CD is a bit of a mix and match as far as the sound is concerned. He sounds like George Michael, Michael Jackson, Prince, Ne-Yo, etc. which unfortunately makes Ace sound like he is covering the very songs he is originating. I think a bit of consistency might have helped in forging that Ace Young sound. The songs however stand on their own which makes this CD still a good listen if you don't mind jumping genres every 3 minutes. My favorite songs are: You Redeem Me and The Girl That Got Away. Overall, I am very happy that the CD is here. No more promises, it's here. And now Ace Young can tour around the country to promote his music.
When I met Ace Young for the autograph signing, I also did a "cellcast" for Rickey TV (hosted by our fantastic intern Danny) -- and I got Ace to say "Puppy Johns"!
Please go ahead and download Ace's CD from iTunes to show your support! Thanks.
