ACE Eddie Awards 2014 - Full Nominations

Editing is crucial to any good visual story, whether on film or on television. The American Cinema Editors' Eddie Awards honors the best edited films and TV shows of the year, and while the choices don't always match up with Oscar or Emmy picks, these nominations are as good a place as any to look when doing research for the office Oscar pool. Hell, nine of the past 11 Eddie winners have gone on to win the Oscar for Film Editing. But it's more than that: at seven of the past 11 Eddie Awards shows, the film that won either the dramatic or comedy/musical ACE categories went on to win the Academy Award for best picture, making this one of the most crucial awards of the season. In fact, not since Ordinary People (1980) has a film won the Best Picture Oscar without also having received an Eddie nomination.
