Abi Alton - Livin' On A Prayer - The X Factor UK - Video

Abi Alton sang “Livin' On A Prayer” on The X Factor UK 2013 Live Show 1.

This was a case of "liked the verses, hated the chorus." Abi has a very lovely tone when she's allowed to keep her vocals straight down the middle, but once she's called upon to tap into her upper register, it gets nasally and sounds vaguely whiny. In many ways, her saving grace is her quirkiness and originality, as she's immediately distinguishable and likable. I do think Abi has tons of potential, and the arrangement was top notch, but I guess I just didn't hear what the judges were hearing with that vocal.
