ABC Unveils Midseason Schedule, 'Revenge' Moves to New Time Slot

Things aren't looking too good for Revenge. ABC announced its upcoming midseason premiere dates, and it looks like the primetime soap has lost the network's vote of confidence.

Starting on March 9, Revenge will vacate its cushy 9 p.m. slot on Sundays and move to the less advantageous 10 p.m hour. While some might argue that this is an attempt by ABC to give a boost to midseason premiere drama Resurrection, which will take over the 9 p.m. hour, it would be an easy argument to make that ABC isn't exactly happy with the below-average ratings Revenge is turning in this season. But there's still hope: with each episode, Revenge is getting closer to those lucrative syndication dollars, so I could easily see ABC giving it another season just to get it to syndication (hell, that's mostly why I see The CW renewing Hart of Dixie). Also, Revenge is useful to have in the event that Resurrection flops, as the network could easily plug it right back into its old time slot.

This is a pretty stacked midseason for ABC though: Killer Women will premiere on Tuesdays at 10 p.m., taking over the slot vacated by canceled freshman drama Lucky 7. The series about Molly Parker, the first woman to join the elite Texas Rangers, will have a three-month run before ceding its spot to the new Christian Slater crime drama Mind Games in March.

The Assets, based on the life and career of CIA counterintelligence officer Sandy Grimes (Jodie Whittaker), will take over Scandal's time slot while the series is on hiatus, airing Thursdays at 10 p.m. beginning Jan. 2. Thursdays will also see the return of reality competition series The Taste at 8 p.m.

While Super Fun Night is on hiatus, the new series Mixology will take over the Wednesday 9:30 p.m. time slot, taking advantage of the helpful Modern Family. The series, from the writers of The Hangover, occurs over the course of a single night. No idea how that's going to work, but it should be interesting. Also, Suburgatory will finally return to its old haunts, taking over the Wednesday 8:30 p.m. time slot from cancelled comedy Back in the Game.

Meanwhile, the new season of The Bachelor, with Juan Pablo Galavis looking for love, will air Mondays at 8:00 p.m. starting January 6.
