ABC Renews 'Wipeout' For Seventh Season

While many game shows have come and gone over the years, one of TV's most ridiculous has remained strong.
ABC has renewed Wipeout for a seventh season. The reality competition series will be back with a bit of a format change, as the new season will feature returning winners competing in a Tournament of Champions to declare the Ultimate Wipeout Champion. Each episode will feature a theme, including "Boss and Employee", and "Win a date with Jill Wagner".
"We are always looking for ways to keep the show fresh and exciting. This year, we are amping up the competition with a season-long tournament of champions, with the winner from each episode returning to compete against the other winners in an epic battle for the title of Wipeout Champion," said Matt Kunitz, creator and executive producer.
The series, hosted by John Anderson (ESPN's SportsCenter) and John Henson (E!'s Talk Soup), and co-hosted by Wagner (MTV's Teen Wolf), is a solid performer for ABC, particularly in the summer. So this renewal was a bit of a given, all things considered. It's also a really fun show, so this is definitely good news for fans of absurd obstacle courses in which people get flipped around like flapjacks.
