ABC Renews 'Nashville' for Season 3, 'Last Man Standing' for Season 4

Nashville had been one of the shows expected to be renewed by many going into May, but when ABC announced the renewals, cancellations, and pickups of a ton of new shows, yet remained mum on Nashville, panic quickly set in among the devoted fanbase. In the aftermath, it appeared that ABC was hemming and hawing over just how many episodes to order for season three, since so much of the show's budget is covered by Tennessee tax credits, an allowance that's shrinking with each year. ABC wanted to cut the order down to 13 episodes, but Lionsgate couldn't make that small of an order work, from a financial standpoint. So if ABC wanted to keep the show on the network, it would need to commit to a full season of 22 episodes.

So what was ABC's verdict?

Well, as you can tell by the headline, ABC has renewed Nashville for Season 3, complete with a full 22 episodes.

Count me among the excited, since this means the series won't end with the unpleasantness that's sure to come for Juliette Barnes in this coming week's season finale.

Now, to crank up "Don't Put Dirt On My Grave Just Yet" in celebration.

UPDATE: In addition, ABC has renewed Friday night comedy Last Man Standing for Season 4, which gets both 20th Century Fox and Tim Allen that much closer to valuable syndication dollars.
