ABC Renews 'Motive'

After renewing freshman soap opera Mistresses, ABC has given another first-year drama a second season.

Motive, the cop drama starring Lauren Holly and Kristin Lehman, has been renewed for season two, reports TVGuide.com. Though the first season drew an unimpressive 4.7 million viewers for its finale, with an 0.8 in the key demographic, the series is no big gamble on ABC's part, as they have no role in producing or financing the drama. The show is the product of CTV in Canada, where the show was the #1 series premiere of the 2012-2013 broadcast season.

Season 2 of Motive will premiere on ABC next summer.
