The Secret Life - Goodbye, Amy Juergens - Recap
I know the title is misleading, but unfortunately Amy is not completely disappeared. Amy is all packed and ready to go to New York and bids a final goodbye to her family. She takes her time making out with the Sausage Prince in the back of the King's car and jet sets off to New York ready to embrace all this amazing city has to offer. Her sister Ashley isn't too broken up about her leaving. Out of nowhere Ashley has developed a crush on Ricky. You would think the girl would know better. She sees what kind of a guy he is and you would think that would have her running in the other direction. But, girls like bad boys and no matter what her hot gay best friend tells her, she wants Ricky. Ricky is still doing anything that moves and this week, he's doing Ruthie Camden who's returned to taunt Adrian.
Adrian's mom tells her that she knows about her pregnancy and is willing to support her 100%. It's a shame the other people in her life can't be there for her and support a woman's right to choose. Grace still won't let it go no matter how much of a front she puts on about being a good friend. Adrian finally snaps and tells Grace off by saying everything i've been thinking. You go girl! Her dad comes out of left field with his pick and choose Catholic beliefs and tells Adrian he won't let her get an abortion. Basically, after a lengthy family argument, he blackmails Adrian by implying he'll leave the family if she goes through with it. Unbelievable. How can people act like that?
In between all this craziness, Jack still has no friends and can't find a place to live. He finally gives Madison a present after declaring his love for her and it's not good enough for her. There's something wrong with that girl. The necklace his dad gave his mom is a fantastic gift. She's horrible. After all of this, Adrian sits crying on her stoop until Tom shows up in a coat and tail suit and proposed to her. As if she didn't have enough problems.
Make It Or Break It - Friends Close, Enemies Closer - Recap
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Make it or break it is finally back and I couldn't be happier. I missed all this crazy gymnastic drama. Can I just say how much I love Peyson and her purple leotard? Even if she's delusional? Okay then. The episode kicks off with the girls high on their rebellious behavior against the national committee and they pose for some pictures. The head of the committee, Ellen, shows up to rain our their parade and announce that they've all been suspended from the national team. Well, that backfired. Sasha isn't worried and thinks the committee is bluffing. He urges the girls to stand their ground and show those people who's boss. He stands there looking sexy.
The Lauren-Carter-Kaylie triangle has gotten worse. Kaylie professing her love and desire for Carter got her nowhere because Carter is busy doing the deed with Lauren in her garage or something. Kaylie can't understand why Carter is avoiding her and goes to see him at the pizza shack. Feeling cornered and wanting to be up front with her, Carter tells her..half of the truth. That he just wants to be friends. He goes into the back room where Lauren is continuing to be a crappy friend as she shows up in a trench coat and her underwear. Oh, Lauren.
Emily is worried about the fact that she broke the rules and lost her scholarship because it was half her family's income. She proves why she's my least favorite character in how disrespectful she is to her mother. I understand getting your point across but sheesh. Boundaries. She tells her mom she does not under any circumstances want her taking money from Lauren's dad. Little does she know, Lauren's dad really does want to help her out. He arranges to be an anonymous donor for her new scholarship
Peyson has never been one to work well with patience. While I find it a little unbelievable she's able to perform gymnastics so well after breaking her back, I'm happy about it because Peyson is my favorite character. I feel like she should be training longer and I don't want her to blow it. Peyson wants to petition herself onto the national team. Basically, she wants to show them how good she is and that she deserves a second chance. Unfortunately for her, her mom and Sasha don't think she's ready. When she was out of the game, her boobs got huge and she grew an inch taller. That doesn't sound horrible to me but it's apparently really bad news to a gymnast. She only gets one chance to petition herself, I really hope she doesn't blow her chances by being impatient.
Finally, the girls go behind Sasha's back and go to plead their case with the National Committee. They betray Sasha's trust and basically kiss some major National ass. It's exactly what Ellen wanted from them. She has them right where she wants them and announces that Kaylie and Emily will be going to France for the latest competition while Lauren didn't make the cut. She also grants Peyson her opportunity to petition herself. Sasha is so hurt by the girl's actions that he looks like he's about to cry any second. AWWWW Sasha :( I want to give him a hug. Lauren loses her temper about not going to France and tells Kaylie the truth about her and Carter. Horrible girl.
Finally, ABC Family had a new series premiere tonight. A new drama starring Hairspray's Nikki Blonsky. "Huge" is about a group of kids at a weight loss camp dealing with all the pressures and problems normal kids have. I loved MTV's documentary about fat camp so I knew I would love this show. It had it's corny LOL moments for me but overall I think i'm going to enjoy tuning in every week. It's not a show promoting obesity but in fact, it's showing you can be happy as a person on your way to being healthy. I think that's important.
