ABC Family cancels 'Alice in Arabia' days after announcing pilot

ABC Family has scrapped Alice in Arabia after complaints from the Muslim community.

The show's plot would have centered around an American teen kidnapped by her Saudi Arabian family after tragedy happens to her parents.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations immediately launched a complaint after the pilot was announced and BuzzFeed obtained an early draft of the script which indeed showed cultural inaccuracies and sterotypes.

The Alice in Arabia pilot was written by Brooke Eikmeier, a U.S. Army veteran who worked as a cryptologic linguist in the Arabic language, trained to support NSA missions in the Middle East.
