ABC plans on making a holiday tradition with its Pixar specials.
The network has confirmed that this year will see the premiere of Toy Story That Time Forgot, a Christmas special that centers on a post-Christmas play date for the beloved Toy Story gang. Things seem to be going just fine until the gang ends up running afoul of a group of "dangerously delusional" action figures.
The special will reunite much of the Toy Story cast, along with plenty of skilled voice talents. Toy Story That Time Forgot will have Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz, Kristen Schaal as Trixie, Kevin McKidd as Reptillus Maximus, Wallace Shawn as Rex, Timothy Dalton as Mr. Pricklepants, Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head and Joan Cusack as Jessie.
The special will be produced by Galyn Susman and directed by Steve Purcell. The duo is looking to duplicate the considerable success of the most recent Toy Story special, October's Toy Story OF TERROR!, which brought in around 10.5 million viewers.
If nothing else, ABC is smart to develop new traditions. They probably could have just relied on Charlie Brown and The Grinch until the end of time.
