Aaron Sorkin Confirms Christian Bale Will Play Steve Jobs in Biopic (VIDEO)

One of the most anticipated biopics in years has been the Steve Jobs biopic from Oscar winning writer Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network, The Newsroom), adapted from Walter Isaacson's comprehensive biography. Of course, part of the buzz surrounding the project was the debate over which actor should play the iconic Apple co-founder.

Well, Sorkin himself is here to confirm the speculation: Christian Bale will play Steve Jobs.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Sorkin let the cat out of the bag: “We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range and that’s Chris Bale,” noting that the Oscar winner didn't even need to audition for them before winning the coveted part.

Sorkin went on to hype the complex nature of the role Bale will play, noting that this is a denser script than most. “He has more words to say in this movie than most people have in three movies combined,” Sorkin explained. “There isn’t a scene or frame that he’s not in, and there’s a tremendous amount of language. So it’s an extremely difficult part and he’s going to crush it.”

Bale is the perfect choice, for my money. And I think a lot of people knew as much, considering how often his name popped up in speculative casting. He looks the part (more for an older Steve Jobs than a younger one, although makeup artists can do amazing things), could probably sound the part after a little coaching, and can likely bring that person to life without making it feel like caricature. I love this casting decision, and can't wait to see Bale in the role.

But what do you think? Is Bale right for the role? Sound off in the comments!
