A Conversation with Sanjaya Malakar

I just got off the phone with Sanjaya Malakar. Yay! Sanjaya wanted to get back in touch with his peeps, and on his task list was to talk to Rickey... gasp, I'm touched!

It was a very casual conversation. In fact, Sanjaya was doing his laundry while he talked to me. What that's noise? -- I asked. Oh, I'm putting my clothes in the dryer. Nice. I'm glad that he's still a normal person.

Let's see, what stuff did I pick up? Hmmm... regarding that TMZ article that Sanjaya has turned into a diva... well, those tabloids will take anything you say and twist it according to how they see fit. So be careful next time Sanjaya, those paparazzi have no sense of humor.

Sanjaya made parmesan polenta the other day. It was delicious.

Sanjaya has a publicist. Her name is Surmi with a last name we both can't spell. And he has a team of consultants helping him with stuff like what to say and what not to say to bloggers. (What???)

He might go to Japan for keyboard training.

Sanjaya uses an Apple MacBookPro which ran out of space recently so he bought himself an external hard drive. (I then went all technical on him with what computer stuff to get, which flew over his head).

Sanjaya has a personal trainer. So he can get more muscles! He's been going to the gym. Gym location: secret. (I talked to his trainer after and suggested that it might be a good idea to do a blow by blow account of Sanjaya's progress... "Sanjaya gained 5 pounds today -- before and after picture".)

Regarding Danny Noriega -- Sanjaya sat beside him on the bus during Hollywood Week last season when they went on a field trip to Venice Beach. They talked.

Sanjaya is a night person. He has piano hands.

That's all I remember.

I think half the time I talked about myself (not good). But I was touched when he said that he hoped the someday I find out what I want to do when I grow up. Awww. (Tear shedding)

It filled me with great joy to have gotten an actual conversation with Sanjaya Malakar.

Thanks Sanjaya! Fanjaya for life!

P.S. He asked me who I was rooting for this year and I said David Archuleta, Danny Noriega (then he told me about Danny), David Hernandez, Amanda Overmyer, Ramiele Malubay, Kady Malloy, Carly Smithson and then Kristy Lee Cook. He said that he met Kristy Lee Cook in the airport and agreed that she was pretty. I said I was rooting for Kristy Lee Cook because I root for the beautiful people since I'm shallow like that.

Is that why you rooted for me?
