7 Reasons Why American Idol 12 Sucks

The Daily Beast has a nice article enumerating the seven reasons American Idol sucks this season.

I've already written that this season has the Worst Top 10 ever and there's some vindication here for me that America thinks the same as I do. The ratings have not just declined -- we're used to seeing that every season -- they are in freefall. It's interesting to see the shift in media perception that Idol is now a disaster. Even Michael Slezak was begging Nigel Lythgoe to fix Idol last night on Twitter.

My favorites of why Idol sucks this season: Bad Themes. Boring Contestants. Cheating (getting rid of viable male contestants in order to get a female winner).

I honestly think that American Idol Season 12 is the season that destroyed the franchise. The show is no longer synonymous to "great singing" and "talent." A lot of that sentiment has already transferred to The Voice.
