2013 TV Choice Awards nominees announced

The longlist for the 2013 TV Choice Awards has been released, and the nominations for the viewer-voted awards have produced some interesting match-ups, particularly in the case of Doctor Who, which is up for three awards.

Current Doctor Matt Smith is nominated for Best Actor for the sci-fi hit, yet he will be pitted against not only his Who predecessor, David Tennant (Broadchurch), but also John Simm (The Village), who played The Master (one of The Doctor's best-known villains) in a multi-episode arc during Tennant's tenure. Simm also competes against his Master predecessor, Derek Jacobi (Last Tango In Halifax), creating one giant Who stew in the Best Actor category.

Meanwhile, current Doctor Who companion Jenna-Louise Coleman is nominated for Best Actress for her performance as Clara Oswald, in a category that sees her pitted against the TARDIS herself: Suranne Jones, nominated for her role in Scott & Bailey. Jones had played the human incarnation of The Doctor's iconic time machine/spacecraft in a 2011 episode. This is made all the more amusing by the fact that, in the series, it's implied that the TARDIS isn't exactly fond of Clara Oswald. Maybe it's a bit of professional rivalry?

Anyhow, the full list of nominees (via TV Choice) is below. The awards are voted on by the public, so feel free to cast yours here:
